Ahh yes, Le Lac

We just finished out first "block" of training. We free-skied for 5 days, 2 days slalom, 3 days GS and a few runs of super-g the last 2 days. The weather has been amazing, we had blue bird days the first 4 days and 1 day with just a few clouds. Even at the very top of the glacier the temperature didn't get below 0. Today we have a day off and it's a bit overcast today, hopefully it'll cool down because the snow has been getting pretty slushy at the end of the days. The skiing has been great though and I'm so happy to be here! The Canadian Team guys have all been really nice so far and it's really awesome to see them training and get a good picture into our heads.

Here is a view from the top of the mountain since you can't get enough of those:
The other day Kali, Hansi and I played basketball/soccer with some local kids who didn't speak english very well and spoke french way too fast for me to understand. They were not very nice though, they called us "ugly face" and one tried to run us over on his bike. It was interesting. After that we jumped on and off of stuff for some more dryland and then ran around the lake some more. I tried jumping over a stream and didn't quite make it so my left foot was soaked up to my ankle.
Lunch ends at 2pm so each day we race back down the hill to get to lunch on time. Over the weekend there was so  many people that you had to fight through a line up to get on the train up AND down. I wish  I could explain just how insane the morning line up for the train is. You would never see anything like it in North America. As Jan Hudec pointed out, half the people would be sueing for one reason or another. We managed to get on the first train up the last three days in a row. Hopefully we can keep it up. Yesterday the Canadian team got to the front of the doors and tried to hold the crowd back for as long as they can, just for fun. It made it really easy for us to get on the train because they didn't hold us back with the rest of the crowd.
I don't know what else to write about, so much stuff has happened in the short while that we've been here that I can't decide what to write about. Skiing is going well though, happy to be on snow.

  1. It sounds so amazing! Especially the fact that you're training with the NATIONAL TEAM! That is such an amazing opportunity.
Ignore the rude French and the crazy crowds. You're skiing in the French Alps, pre-season, and you're going to kick butt this year.
Miss you miss you miss you and I'll talk to you later.

  2. Thanks Aanika!
And were not training WITH them (that would be really really cool) were just training near them.
But it's not the french it's the crazy Italians! They're mean =( one Italian girl was like super bitchy today. We did not like her but I think she left.
I'll try to talk to you on skype this weekend! We're going down to sea level for the weekend to rest our bodies and we will hopefully stay in a hotel with free wifi ahahah
