Making ends meet

The hardest part of being an athlete is paying for your sport, particularly if you are an amature athlete who isn't making any money from your sport. My team is trying to organize a trip to France this October to train for 3 weeks but we are having a lot of trouble getting enough people to come on the trip with us. To make this trip happen we only need 6 people (although 10 people would significantly reduce the cost) we only have 5 people on our team so we need atleast 1 person not from the team to come on the trip. This 1 person has been next to impossible to find. The problem is that it's very hard to find 1 more person who can afford to come on this trip with us that isn't already going on another trip around the same time with their own team. At $3600 not including the plane ticket this trip is far from cheap and my parents have started to question whether they actually can afford to send me on this trip. If we can't make this trip happen we will have to make due with what skiing we can find in Canada this fall. Unfortunatley skiing at home is far more expensive than you would think it costs about $70 for 1 hour of lane space on far from ideal conditions while still paying for expensive hotel accomodations. In Europe at least we have good training conditions.
On the up side, every October the Trail wave comes in and it makes for some awesome kayaking...
